UPDATE: 931 First Avenue Is Anybody Home? In case you've been wondering what's been going on behind the scaffolding of 931 First Avenue, the former women's shelter at 51st Street that is slated for conversion to a luxury residence, our roving reporter, Richard Rowe, informed Turtle Bay Newsletter that asbestos has been removed and walls strengthened by the developer. With assistance from the Economic Development Corperation, major construction was scheduled to begin May 6. To date, the site looks quiet.
