An Early Learning Center has been opened by the YWCA at
53rd Street and Lexington Avenue. The center will be open year round,
has a spacious rooftop playground, and a curriculum that includes
music, art, and dance. It also offers emergency day care. Hours
are between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. (Monday through Friday) for children

Daily pet care is also available in Turtle Bay at 227 East
44th Street. Biscuits & Bath's five-story accommodations include
a Play-doh hill for dogs, a 30-foot swimming pool, spa weekends
and a daily jitney for pets and their owners. For information about

Telephone Scam Alert - Don't press 9, 0, # for anyone!
It will allow the caller to place long distance phone calls and
bill the calls to your telephone number. The Crime Victims Assistance
Program advises that individuals place telephone calls identifying
themselves as AT&T, MCI, Verizon, etc., technicians. They ask
the person they call to complete a test of her or his phone line
by simply touching 9, 0, and # and hanging up. Don't do it!
Tired of those pesty telephone calls? Beginning in April
your name can be removed from the telemarketer's lists. Call 1-800-NYS-1220
to preregister. If you want to have something done immediately,
you can call 516-546-4100 and 56 percent of those calls will be
eliminated.
The High School of Art & Design at 57th Street and
Second Avenue seeks volunteers for their tutoring program. Call

Skate boarding violators should beware! Captain Kevin Ward
of the 17th Precinct is after them. To report a violation call 826-3211
and ask that a car be sent as soon as possible to remove the skate
boarders. Be sure to get the name of the person to whom you speak
and write it down, as well as the date and time. Call Captain Ward
directly if you get no satisfaction from your complaint.
The Vanderbilt Y's fitness facility is now open 24 hours,
Monday through Thursday. Fridays they will be open until midnight,
Saturdays until 7:00 p.m., and Sundays until 9:00 p.m.
