NYC Council July Blood Drive Speaker Gifford Miller announces the Council's first July Blood Drive. It is being held in July because the summer months are the lowest for blood and platelet donations. Donating blood only takes an hour and helps save lives. A kick-off meeting of local neighborhood associations was held may 15th at the Council office to help the New York Blood Center, located at 310 E. 67th Street, reach potential blood donors. To donate blood or receive more information on this important effort, call either Suzanne Shapiro in the Speaker's district office at (212) 535-5554 or the NY Blood Center at (800) 688-0900. The Council District Office will do the scheduling and follow-up. It's the gift of life.
