The Greening of Turtle Bay
By April Payne Sage Realty Corporation is enhancing the quality of life for residents and
visitors of the Turtle Bay neighborhood. Dedicated to expanding the greenspace
within Turtle Bay, the company planted new trees and protected existing ones
while it prepared for our last holiday season.
After finally receiving the permit from the City's Park Department, Sage began
its beautification process by planting eight new ginkgo trees on 48th and 49th
Streets. To protect the existing trees lining Third Avenue, Sage installed a
large, innovative steel bike rack directly in front of 777 Third Avenue. The
idea behind the Adonis bike rack is three-fold: to protect the trees from the
enormous chains being wrapped around them, to provide a secure place for parking
bicycles, and to be visually and aesthetically pleasing.
Sage did not stop at greening its own block. This winter it extended the beautification
project to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza fountains by donating six lighted Christmas
trees for the enjoyment of all who pass by.
