C.A.T.S. Tale

CATS, AKA Children’s Athletic Training School & Center
for Adult Sports, located at 235 East 49th Street, is a bustling,
progressive center of energy and exuberance specializing in the
comprehensive development of athletic skills, confidence, self-esteem,
fair play and sportsmanship in young children. Co-founder Butch
Seewagen, a former world class tennis professional, along with his
sister and partner Barbara Steger, a former teacher and top-ranked
Eastern Singles and Doubles tennis player have created a safe and
innovative place for our children to play, socialize, dance and
gain knowledge. CATS offers a myriad of programs as well as martial
arts for children ages 1 – 10. In-house are classrooms, a
2000-foot gym, dance studio, outdoor space, and party rooms, along
with aqua-CATS swimming at St. Bart’s Church on East 50th
Street. The center has been noted twice in the “best bets”
page of New York Magazine and is home to a number of celebrities’
offspring. And there is more – that is for those of us over
10 years old who enjoy massage, Bikram yoga, facials, scalp treatment
and cleansing programs. There is even an on-site Ayurvedic consultant
and Board-certified Holistic Health Practitioner. Even the dads
are enjoying themselves at CATS.
