Community Board Six Moves After eight years of searching,
working, and moving through the approval process the City requires
for such relocations, Community Board Six now has a new home at
866 United Nations Plaza. It was previously located at 330 East
26th Street. The new space's larger size and formal conference room
will also make the Board's offices more functional and practical
than their previous quarters. Their new phone number is 319-3750.
New Merchant Discounts. Offering a 10% discount, good at
all times, to TBA members is DeGrezia Restaurant,
at 231 E. 50th Street, 750-5353 (see article on Volunteer Party,
page 2.)
Muriel Siebert & Co., a discount brokerage firm located
at 855 Third Avenue (644-2400) is offering Turtle Bay Association
members an additional 10% reduction off the firm's discounted commission
schedule for live broker, touch-tone phone and wireless trading.
In addition, as a show of support for the TBA Ms. Siebert will donate
5% of the commission for each trade to the TBA.
Tired of Third Class Mail? If you want to stop those catalogues
and requests for donations, write to the Direct Mail Association,
Mail Preference Service, Box 9008, Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008. While
this will cut down on the amount of this type of mail you receive,
it will not eliminate it altogether.
Outdoor Concerts Summer offers lots of outdoor music. The
17th Precinct Community Council is sponsoring a series of four free
concerts in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Park, E. 47th Street between
1st and 2nd Avenues. All begin at 6:30 P.M. This year's remaining
concerts are as follows:
Wednesday, June 27. Performers are the NY Express Jazz Blues
Quartet, courtesy of Music Under New York.
Tuesday, July 10. Libby & Co. Jazz Quartet, affiliated
with the Turtle Bay Music School.
Wednesday, August 1. Paul Brown, Pop Guitar, also courtesy
of Music Under New York.
For additional information call: 826-3228.
Our neighbors in Tudor City are also hosting a series of events.
These are sponsored by Tudor City Greens and funded by Pfizer.
Performers are from the Mannes College of Music. The parks are located
at E. 42nd Street and Tudor City Place. Concerts begin at 6:00 P.M.
Remaining concerts will be held on Wednesday, July 11, Jazz in the
North Park; and Wednesday, July 25, Jazz in the South Park.
